Now almost 20 years after his passing, Tupac’s influence is as palpable today as it was when he was alive. His death left a burning imprint within the hip-hop community and his music has proven inspirational to countless emcees, from the up-and-comers to those at the top of the rap food chain. In their most recent “Nowstalgia” issue, PAPER Magazine asked three rap icons to pay tribute to lost leaders of the game, with the second installment tapping the one and only Eminem, who helms in on the genius of the late West Coast hip-hop don.
“I used to be fascinated with his interviews like, ‘Yo, what he’s saying is so true.’ He would also be able to trump people who were interviewing him when they would hit him with hard questions — it was incredible. He was a superstar in every aspect of the word. You just wanted to know that guy. Like man, I wanna hang out with Pac.”
