Tupac will become the first-solo hip-hop act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and old accomplice and friend Snoop Dogg will be doing the honors.
According to Rolling Stone, the West Coast legend will be taking care of inducting the legendary rapper, who died in 1996. Snoop notably collaborated with Tupac on the classic West Coast anthem “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted,” from All Eyez on Me.
Pac will join fellow hip-hop greats like Run DMC, Public Enemy, N.W.A., Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and The Beastie Boys on the list.
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after their first release — Pac’s first album 2Pacalypse Now released in 1991. This year’s ceremony will take place on April 7 in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, with Journey, Pearl Jam, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra and Joan Baez also joining the “Class of 2017.”
The posthumous Tupac action doesn’t stop there this year — the All Eyez On Me biopic is due to hit cinemas on June 16. Watch the trailer below.
