Out in the real world news is happening and here are the highlights.
Cruz loses Indiana, gifting Trump the republican nomination
In a presidential bid that only ever really revved its engines, merely giving the illusion that it was actually going somewhere, Ted Cruz lost the Indiana primary to Trump by a full 16.7 percentage points.
Unable to deny the grim reality and basic mathematics any longer, he dropped out of the race, meaning Trump’s nomination is merely a formality. On the other end of the political divide, Sanders edged out Hillary, giving him firm footing ahead of next month’s make-or-break California primary.
Latino immigrants apply for U.S. citizenship to stop Trump
Having blamed central American immigrants for drug running, rape, and every other crime committed within American borders, not to mention threatening to deport them by the million, Trump has spurred many Latinos that qualify for U.S. citizenship to apply now so they can stop him in the November ballot. Considering this is the fastest growing demographic in the U.S., The Donald should start sweating.
Chinese army uses guns and hip-hop to snag young recruits
Proving that the army isn’t all about risking life and limb for the gains of your nation’s political elite, China’s state apparatus proves that it’s down wit da yoot by releasing a recruitment video centered around guns and hip-hop. It may sound absurd, but is war really all that different from drive-by shootings?
Tupac’s mom dies aged 69
Afeni Shakur – civil rights activist, former Black Panther, mom of legendary rapper – died at the age of 69 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their troubled relationship fueled much of his music, while her peddling of his image brought us some of Tupac’s most seminal posthumous moments: like his hologram appearance at Coachella, and a recent voiceover in a Powerade commercial. RIP.
Anyone can call anything an iPhone in China, says court
In China, the dark, black heart of both manufacturing and bootleg piracy, Apple has lost a legal battle over its “iPhone” trademark, meaning that anyone can call anything an iPhone in the country – even handbags and leather goods, which one manufacturer has already done.
10-year-old boy rewarded $10,000 for hacking Instagram
An insanely tech-adept Finnish 10 year-old that managed to hack Instagram has been rewarded $10,000 for his borderline illegal efforts by the apps owners, Facebook. Apparently they were thoroughly impressed that he managed to identify a “security flaw” that allowed him to erase comments left by other users, and as the old saying goes: “if you can’t beat them, pay them off with a massive check.”
